The Australian Acid and Metalliferous Drainage (AMD) Workshop, is a triennial forum in Australia dedicated to sharing fundamental knowledge on this global water quality issue. The Workshop and Short Course provide excellent opportunities to network with researchers and practitioners on the causes, management and amelioration of the impacts of AMD and Acid Sulfate Soils.

The Workshop is hosted by the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) at The University of Queensland and the Cooperative Research Centre for Transformations in Mining Economies (CRC-TiME).

Welcome from the Chair of the AMD Organising Committee, Professor Mansour Edraki

Professor Mansour Edraki

On behalf of the organising committee we would like to invite you to the 11th Australian Workshop on Acid and Metalliferous Drainage.

Since the first workshop in 1992, the AMD workshop series have continued to be the key Australian forum for industry, academia, and government agencies to share the latest developments in AMD management, including findings from many case studies around Australia and elsewhere.

The AMD Workshop is hosted by The University of Queensland’s Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) and we are delighted to be partnering with CRC TiME to deliver the 2025 workshop.

SMI is the Australian representative in the Global Alliance formed by the International Network for Acid Prevention (INAP). INAP has been an important supporter of the Workshop over many years and representatives of INAP member companies will be in attendance.

We look forward to sharing the program details over the coming weeks and welcoming you to Brisbane in October!

Kind regards
Mansour
