Education and knowledge transfer

Introducing environmental aspect of mining to geology and mining engineering students is a pathway to cultural change in the resources industry. While there are some academics who are involved in teaching aspects of environmental management in mining, they tend to be in a minority.A global approach that includes webinars and professional development courses attached to conferences could be the best option to reach a wider audience. 

INAP webinars – SMI has been working on this with INAP

• Plan to use current website to become a point/hub/portal to AMD in Australia
• Set up a mailing list
• Hope to start webinars in Q2 of 2018
• SMI to bring together the Australian AMD community in its role as Global Alliance (GA) member for Australia.
